As the stage has been set, let’s get started. To combine or merge multiple video files into one video file using VLC Media Player, I will be showing you a simple command which we can run in the command prompt of Windows 10.

So here is the command that we are going to use to combine multiple video files into single video file in VLC Media Player. Do not worry about this command, like what is this command, how to use it and many more like this.

I will provide the command in the description of the video and in this article I will show you, step by step process of how to use this command and merge multiple videos into single video file using VLC Media Player.

So follow this article thoroughly, so that you can also combine multiple videos into single video file. So first, let us see how to use this command and what is this comment is all about.

VLC LOCATIONvideofile1.mp4 videofile2.mp4 –sout “#gather:std{access=file,mux=ts,dst=all.ts}” –no-sout-all –sout-keep

If you see clearly red color, it says the first part of the command is VLC Media Player location and next comes your video file names which you want to merge into a single video file (blue color).

Next is the destination video file name. Here you can modify the destination video file name, which you want. So, let me show you how to use this command.

So first, copy the entire comment and go to the location where you have your video files. I would suggest to place all the video files at one place that you want to merge so that it will be easy while giving the file names in the command.

Once, you are in the folder where you have all the videos placed, just click on that address bar on the top and type “cmd” press enter.

Merge Multiple Video 1

This would open command prompt of your windows 10. Let me copy the command once again, I copied the comment mentioned above. But I just want to copy it again and right click on the command prompt and click on the paste option. You could see that the comment which you copied, has been pasted in the command prompt.

vlc location

Now we have to modify the first part of the command, which needs VLC Media Player location. To get the VLC Media Player location, click on the Windows button >> on your keyboard and search for VLC and you could see VLC command over here. Right click on it and click on Open file location.

vlc media player location

This opens up the location where you have VLC Media Player executable file. Copy the address of this folder by clicking on the address bar of your Windows Explorer and right click on it and click on copy.

copy location vlc media player

We need to provide the part of the VLC.exe file in the command. So just go to the initial part of the command. You can make these changes in the notepad file directly and paste the command, but I would like to do it in the command prompt itself.

cmd vlc media player

Now right click and click on paste option. Add “VLC.exe” command itself. As names of my video files are very simple, like 1.mp4 and 2.mp4, I will directly go to the location and I will give the names of the video files in the command.

These are a very simple file names, like 1.mp4 and 2.mp4, so I can just give it like 1.mp4 and 2/mp4. Make sure you provide the file names correctly, along with the extension. The last part of the command is changing the destination file name. You could see something called “dst=“.

So, just remove the entire part of after “=” and give the destination file name. I want to give it as merge.mp4. Once everything is done, like you have given VLC media player location, given the video file names that you want to merge and you have provided the destination file name.

cmd vlc media player 2

Hit enter. Your command has executed and VLC Media Player has been opened and it starts merging video files. My video files has been merged into a single file.

Just go to the location where you ran this command. I ran this command from this folder and you can see there is a video file called merge.mp4.

So, this is a video which has merged based on the two video files which are given. Let me open the merged video file which has both these video files merged into a single video.

So these are a merged video file, which is merged and made into single files by merging two video files together.
