Before we begin, I will give you a quick guide on how views come to the YouTube video in the first impression.
Once you have finished reading, you will have a good understanding of the YouTube algorithm and how to adjust your YouTube content to match it.
How To Get More Views On YouTube?
There are possibly hundreds, if not thousands of factors that help to boost your YouTube video views, but there are 2 that are frequently more important than any other in 2020 and maybe 2021.
This is the clickthrough rate and average viewer retention rate.
Clickthrough rate is the percentage of people that click on your YouTube video when they see it on their screen.
The average viewer retention rate is the percentage of the video that your viewers watch, which is the average of all viewing sessions.
If you can improve these percentage values, your videos will be recommended more. That means you will get more impressions, more clicks, and more views.
Make a Good Thumbnail
YouTube thumbnail is what drives the most user attention and gets the most clicks. So the question is how do you create an engaging and catchy thumbnail?
First, choose to include text. Your thumbnail text should take up two-thirds of the image and engage your audience with relevant buzz words.

One thing always keep in your mind, Don’t use clickbait because people will just leave your video and And they will think that all your videos will be like this. and that will damage audience retention.
Instead, take a title that you think will get people’s attention, then add that title to the text.
By creating these catchy thumbnails, you are going to improve your click-through rate fastly.
Improving your click-through rate is great because it means for each impression of your YouTube video gets, you will get more views.
If a video that gets 100,000 impressions with a 5% click-through rate will get 5,000 unique views, whilst a 12% click-through rate will get you 12,000, a huge 150% increase in views.

Engage People Directly
To ensure is that your videos get recommended to more people, the average audience watch time needs to be as high as possible.
Videos of 5 to 10 minutes long are going to perform better than videos less than 4 to 5 minutes. The length of the video does not matter if more viewers leave quickly.
So, we need to ensure that we get people engaged straight away. To do this, don’t go off-topic in the video.
Provide evidence why you should be trusted, then get straight to the topic. Avoid having pointless intros, and don’t waste time talking out the topic and asking for likes and subs.
I learned this with difficulty. You can see how even a 4-second intro gets 25% of my viewers to leave the video entirely.
I dropped the introduction and I retained the same 78% audience for an additional 42 seconds.
- Get straight to the video topic ASAP
- Explain your expertise as quickly
- Tease the audience with the content, then move on directly
- Fewer B-rolls, intros, or begs for likes and subs
